ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW 

The Phoenix is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which offers a free sober active community to individuals who have suffered from a substance use disorder and to those who choose a sober life. Using a peer support model, we help members heal and rebuild their lives while also striving to eliminate stigma around recovery. Activities offered include CrossFit, climbing, hiking, boxing, running, yoga, road & mountain biking, and strength training. Through traditional fundraising strategies and revenue ventures, The Phoenix is able to provide free programs for anyone with at least 48 hours of continuous sobriety. The Phoenix currently operates in 45 communities across 24 states.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Phoenix is looking for a Director of Marketing/Senior Marketing Manager who can help us with our rapid expansion across the country and assist in developing a long-term, sustainable strategy for increasing our reach and impact. This position will oversee all aspects of marketing for The Phoenix and work with the Executive Director in developing innovative ways to increase awareness. A strong connection to The Phoenix Mission and commitment to leading by example are critical to this position; preference will be given to those with personal experience in recovery from alcohol or a substance use disorder. The Phoenix is a dynamic, creative and fast-paced environment requiring employees to be flexible and adaptable to ever-changing situations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In cooperation with the National Leadership Team, develop and implement a marketing strategy and annual plans which will include branding, marketing communications, and public relations
  • Create and manage a marketing and social engagement calendar
  • Create and execute social media plan, including frequently updating content on all social media platforms and monitoring engagement
  • Assure that all content and materials reflect our Mission & Core Values
  • Manage ambassador and influencer relationships and content
  • Track, analyze and report on social media analytics and campaign success with the goal of continually expanding reach and impact
  • Identify opportunities to engage with current and potential team members, donors, and partners regarding recovery, strengthening communities, and Phoenix programming
  • Manage website content
  • Work with teams internally and externally to provide appropriate tools, materials, and data as needed to support The Phoenix strategic plan
  • Review and respond promptly, accurately and cordially to all inquiries, including messages received via social media
  • Oversee creation and distribution of all public-facing branding and marketing efforts, including Phoenix apparel, Phoenix online store, pamphlets, posters, videos, etc.
  • Manage all branding and marketing related projects including overseeing vendors
  • Effective use of a wide range of platforms and media to engage with a diverse range of audiences
  • Supervise small marketing team
  • Facilitate internal communication across functions to ensure that all teams are appropriately updated and kept in the loop on all major marketing related activity
  • Be an ambassador for The Phoenix at all times
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Up to 30% travel required

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or Business preferred
  • 2-5+ years of experience in similar role, preferably in the branding and marketing space
  • Experience using social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) advertising & brand advocacy for business purposes
  • Demonstrated writing, editing, proof-reading & communications skills
  • High levels of professionalism, organization, and adaptability
  • Knowledge and consistent demonstration of excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to listen well and communicate effectively orally and in writing with various audiences
  • Ability to work effectively with employees, management, customers, governmental agencies, community members and the general public
  • Experience managing and advising direct reports
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment, and proficient with software including word processing, spreadsheet applications and email
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people from all walks of life
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, humility, and integrity
  • Ability to travel
