ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

The Phoenix is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to foster a supportive, physically active community for individuals who are recovering from a substance use disorder and for those who choose to live sober. By participating in our physical, social and educational programs, participants build confidence, self-respect, and community. Activities offered include CrossFit, climbing, hiking, boxing, running, yoga, road & mountain biking, and strength training. Through traditional fundraising strategies and revenue-generating ventures, Phoenix provides free programs for anyone with 48 hours of sobriety. The Phoenix currently operates in 45 communities across 24 states.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Philanthropy Officer will report directly to the New England Regional Director and collaborate with the national Development Team to implement a fundraising strategy that expands and ensures sustainability of Phoenix programs. Primary duties include strategizing to reach development goals by identifying, investigating, coordinating, cultivating, and tracking relationships with the regional philanthropic community. Priority will be given to individuals with a track record of managing high level relationships and who have a strong grasp of the local philanthropic landscape.

The Philanthropy Officer will serve as a senior advisor to the Regional Director and operations lead to ensure consistent engagement with key stakeholders. A personal connection to The Phoenix mission is preferred. The Phoenix is a dynamic, creative and fast-paced environment requiring employees to be flexible and adaptable to ever-changing situations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
-Work closely with the Regional Director and National Development Team to deploy a comprehensive fundraising strategy including private donations, government and foundation grants, corporate sponsorships to ensure sustainability and targeted growth within the region
-Support cultivation of relationships with local foundation representatives, high-value donors, elected officials, and media outlets.
-Perform prospect research on foundations, individuals and corporations to identify new funders Implement innovative strategies to engage donors to expand The Phoenix's donor base
-Manage all external stakeholder relations, including maintaining accurate donation data (tracking relationships and donor activity in Salesforce), acknowledgment, recognition, and stewardship plans for all donors in partnership with the Development team
-Work with the National Foundations & Grants Manager to support grant writing efforts as needed
-Help plan and coordinate local fundraising events and campaigns
-Evening and weekend hours required as needed
-Must be able to travel for meetings as necessary
-Complete all other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
-3+ years' experience with public relations, business development, fundraising and/or grant
-writing
-Experience working with internal and external stakeholders to development meaningful
relationships
-Familiarity with moves management and other donor cultivation techniques
-Passion for our The Phoenix's Mission and commitment to our Core Values
-Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people from all walks of life
-Excellent written and oral communications
-Entrepreneurial spirit, humility, and integrity
-Lived experience as a peer in recovery preferred
-Bachelor's degree or higher education
-Professionalism, strong organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to quickly
adapt to change
-Proficient with software including Salesforce or other CRM, word processing, spreadsheet
applications and email
-Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as necessary
